Expressing myself in Music... |
Songs...
I love music, and every now and then I try and express myself through making my own.
I'm most comfortable behind a drum kit, but also dabble in bass, acoustic guitar and piano, but haven't had any formal lessons and can't read music, and my voice isn't great... But other than that, I'm learning and I enjoy it (and that's what matters, right?!)
"Worship Music" is my genre (for want of a better word), and more at the acoustic end.
My chords are simple, and probably made up at times.
I've had the privilege of playing with some cracking musicians down the years which has made me up my game, and they've humoured me and encouraged my creativity.
It'll take a while to find myself back in a position to record anything like the quality that I managed with my friends with our "Project:Worship" EP, "Micah 6:8"

Here I am |
August 2019.
Written in Colombia, in response to what I felt whilst on mission. Filmed at Nuthall Methodist Church at a service to share about our trip. |
Yet I Will Trust |

August 2017
Written from the inspiration of a friend's journey, life, testimony and death, and the way he faced it with God.
All I had was a chorus and a bridge. The words for the verses came from a search through some archives and appear to be out of copyright.
At the time I wrote:
"Here's the latest song I've been working on, inspired by the journey of a friend. (I stole the verses from an old hymn that I've never known, and there's an accompanying tune which will be shared at some point.)
It's one thing to be able to sing or even write something like this, it's another to live it out. I've been reading Mike's story, praying for him and chatting with him over the last year from a distance. It's been a number of years since we were close, but his faith and journey has spoken volumes through his life.
Last night Mike was greeted with a new home and welcome by His "Father with sweet smiling face", with an embrace that said "Well done, faithful one".
This one's for you buddy. Rest well."
Partial recording, filmed at Nuthall Methodist Church as part of a "Worship Singalong" fundraiser for our Colombia Mission trip.
