The wife and I have been re-watching Chuck of late, and we've just started the last disc of the last season. If you've not watched it, you should. Simple, funny, entertaining, nerdy and clever. The premise revolves around the intersect, a super computer that is capable of being uploaded into the human brain. It bestows the person who downloads it with secret knowledge and information from the combined databases of the CIA and NSA. Later updates enable the bearer to know martial arts, gun mastery, languages and other random skills. The obvious jump is to talk about the Holy Spirit and gifts thereof, but I'm not in that deep a mood... Maybe we'll go there another day.
The real question is this: If you had a computer in your brain that would give you instant expertise in anything, what would you want it to make you great at? I'm thinking hard, but it has to be the obvious, but perhaps stretched with a little creative license: I'm going for the ability to understand and use any language, and within that I'm going to state that music is a language, and that includes being able to play any instrument. You can keep your martial arts and your physical prowess... Language and music will do me just fine. What you picking? |
