"Our Calling"

"Our Calling" is the vision of the mission of the Methodist Church.
It boils down to how we honour the good news of the Kingdom of God through four areas of our lives:

• Worship
• Learning and Caring
• Service
• Evangelism

To try and help get my head around it, I tried to get creative by turning each term into a verse of a song:

This is Our Calling:

This, this is our calling
To come before our God
To lift our hands, and praise His name
And celebrate His love:
So we come with expectation
We come with Holy fear,
To the presence of the one
Who draws us near 

This, this is our calling
To come before our God
To open our hearts and minds to Him
And marvel at His love: 
So we come with expectation
We come with Holy fear,
To listen to Him Speak,
That we might hear

This, this is our calling
To go into the world 
To know God’s heart for justice
And act upon His love:
So we go with expectation
We go with Holy fear,
To love and serve our neighbour
Far and near

This, this is our calling
To go into the world 
To open our mouths and speak of God,
And the wonders of His love:
So we go with expectation
We go with Holy fear,
To share good news, proclaim
“His Kingdom’s here”
